Paper is a versatile medium – inventively used by Lucrezia Bieler to define her environmental vision. She meticulously hand-cuts each intricate endangered animal portrait from a single sheet of paper to stress nature’s interconnectedness.

Her choice of subject echoes this theme: “In many cultures, turtles and cranes symbolize long life. But the two species live in very different elements. Separated in life, they are related in spirit. This image expresses my hope for their mutual protection.”
